这是我的第十个toastmaster “best…” ribbon.
前九个:
这个是toastmaster advanced manual “storytelling” 第三个项目,moral of a story。

The Whole Story of Tortoise and Hare
Long time ago, in a far far away land, lived the Tortoise and the Hare. Tortoise did everything in a slow pace, while Hare could finish the same thing in a blink.
Hare couldn’t understand how Tortoise could survive in such a slow pace and he kept on teasing him. One day Tortoise couldn’t take it any more; he challenged the Hare for a race.
“Ready! Set! Go!”“Too-too-too” …. Soon Hare was out of the sight while Tortoise plodded along the trial. In the middle of the race, the Hare looked back, there was no sign of Tortoise at all; he looked forward and whistled, “Whoosh!” There was a big tree with splendid shadow! What a fantastic place for a rest! He went over and laid down, soon fell into sleep, dreaming about the salute at the finish line.
The tortoise crawled along, when he saw the snoring Hare, he continued without a pause.
A wave of applause and cheers woke up the Hare, he dashed to the finished line, but no one came over. All the animals already surrounded the Tortoise for celebration! It was the tortoise who won the race.
This story tells us “slow but steady wins the race.”
Dear toastmaster and fellow toastmasters, I believe all of you heard of this story before.
But this is not the end of the story. The Hare felt it wasn’t fair, he lost the race just because he accidentally fell into sleep in the middle of the race, he challenged tortoise again. Tortoise agreed, but he would like to choose the trail for the race.
“Ready! Set! Go!” “Too-too-too” …. Hare was out of the sight even faster. This time, he didn’t take a break and ran all the way along the race trail. Soon he was blocked by a rapid river; he could see the flags at the finish line were waving to him from the other bank. He ran up the stream, he ran down the stream; there is no way for him to cross the river. On the other hand, Tortoise crawled slowly but steady towards the river, swam to the other bank, crossed the finish line. It was Tortoise who won the game again.
This story tells us, “Please choose the battle where your strength shines.”
Wait, this is not the end of the story either. Hare still felt it wasn’t fair, “you know I couldn’t swim.” He challenged Tortoise for another race and asked for a trail without water and Tortoise agreed.
On another beautiful day, “Ready! Set! Go!” “Too-too-clump-bump!” What happened? Hare ran tumbling down. Why?Tortoise chose a downhill trail. Hare had long back legs and short front legs; it was so hard for him to run down the hill. Now, let’s see Tortoise, he tugged in his head, his legs and his tail into his shell, he began to roll and tumble and slide all the way down, soon he reached the finish line and won the race.
This story tells us, “Know your opponent’s weakness will lead you to the victory.”
Wait, this is not the end of the story. In the fall season, besides the celebration of harvest, there was a game cross the land for all the animals. Everyone can find a buddy to run the race together. Hare asked Tortoise to be his buddy and Tortoise agreed. So along the race trail, They helped each other, either Hare dragged Tortoise uphill, or Tortoise slide Hare downhill,or Tortoise gave Hare a ride to cross rivers. Together they were the first team to cross the finish line.
This story tells us, “Your most contrary opponent could be your best teammate.”
Wait, this is, indeed, the end of the story of Tortoise and Hare.
